This book took me on an entertaining adventure through a technologically advanced future. The immersive world-building and captivating plot, will appeal adult science fiction readers.
Set in a future where artificial intelligence and virtual reality have become integrated into daily life, Glider paints a vivid picture of a society teetering on the brink of technological transcendence. The main character, Heather, is a relatable person who undergoes a journey of self-discovery as she grapples with powers and questions her sense of identity. There were a few times when I had concerns about why HD was having a change of heart. The motivations behind this shift were not adequately explored for me and left me yearning for a more nuanced portrayal of this character’s transformation.
However, that was a minor distraction as Glider’s writing style is engaging and kept me hooked from start to finish. The pacing is well-done between action and contemplative moments exploring deeper themes. The author gives the reader enough to understand the ethical implications of unchecked technological progress and at the same time make up their own mind on its execution.
I do recommend The Alpha Upgrade of HD Heathers and will be curious to see if the author continues with the evolution of Heather. His book offers a thrilling journey that will leave readers pondering the consequences of our increasingly interconnected world.
As a warning, this is an adult book and there are some graphic sexual scenes.
